Charity Photography in Camden
I recently had the pleasure of providing the Kindness Offensive with charity photography coverage for their Christmas kindness Event. The kindness Offensive are a North London non profit whose goal is to carry out large scale Random Acts of Kindness for the benefit of everyone! What started as a kitchen table conversation has now grown into a very large group responsible for accomplishing some truly extraordinary things in the name of Kindness.
Some of their many beneficiaries include AgeUK, the London Royal Hospital, Speak Street and the Salvation Army. Kindness volunteers travel in style from their amazing converted Route Master bus which they won in a competition run by the White Stuff clothing label. The White Stuff were searching for the group who could do the most good with it.
The bus is a classic 1965 RCL Route Master, which has been recognised as both the most colourful and greenest Route Master on earth! It runs on vegetable oil! While other busses charge people to ride, the Kinder bus spends it’s time providing free rides and giving out free gifts. It was also used in Russell Brand’s Trew Era Café opening.
The Kindness Offensive have carried out several world record-breaking Acts of Random Kindness. They also regularly host parties, transport worthy groups to a wide range of fun destinations, attend school fairs, fun days and other socially conscious events.
Every year before Christmas volunteers ride around London to give gifts and flowers to complete strangers. This year Ruby Wax came along for the ride to volunteer herself, and also to carry out research for her next book The Future, With Love.
The bus was heavily loaded up with flowers, chocolates, toys and gift boxes from Lush Cosmetics, all kindly donated to the charity. On the wintery Saturday morning volunteers hopped on and off the bus in traffic to give flowers to delighted passers by. They also visited an assisted living block of flats and knocked on doors to give flowers to the elderly residents. One elderly lady was so touched she burst into tears. The rest of the afternoon was spent on Camden high street bringing hundreds of smiles to happy shoppers.
The Kindness Offensive are always happy to welcome volunteers and I’d definitely recommend joining them next for next Christmas if you have the chance!
